It is particularly intended for those who wish to read the Tibetan translations of the words of the Buddha and of the classical Indian commentaries thereon, as well as the many treatises on Buddhist philosophy and contemplation by indigenous Tibetan masters.<br \/>\nThis course consists of a presentation of the so called <em>dbu-can<\/em> script (pronounced as ouchan) and of the classical Tibetan syntactic structure, as well as of an introduction to the various case particles. In addition, the students will learn the basic vocabulary and will do translation exercises in order to prepare to read classical texts.<br \/>\n<!--:--><!--:fr--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Dans le cadre de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie belge pour l\u2019\u00e9tude des langues anciennes et orientales (ABELAO) auront lieu ces cours de<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Tib\u00e9tain classique \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Du dimanche 3 ao\u00fbt au jeudi 14 ao\u00fbt 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tib\u00e9tain classique I : niveau \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ce cours intensif a pour objectif d\u2019initier les \u00e9tudiants aux bases essentielles de la grammaire du tib\u00e9tain classique. Il s\u2019adresse en particulier \u00e0 ceux et celles qui souhaitent avoir acc\u00e8s aux traductions tib\u00e9taines des paroles du Bouddha et des commentaires classiques indiens, ainsi qu\u2019aux nombreux trait\u00e9s philosophiques et contemplatifs r\u00e9dig\u00e9s par des ma\u00eetres tib\u00e9tains.<br \/>\nLe cours consiste en un expos\u00e9 du syst\u00e8me d\u2019\u00e9criture dit <em>dbu-can<\/em> (prononcer ouchan), d\u2019une pr\u00e9sentation de la structure syntactique du tib\u00e9tain classique, ainsi que d\u2019une introduction aux diverses particules de d\u00e9clinaison. Ceci sera suppl\u00e9ment\u00e9 par l\u2019apprentissage d\u2019un vocabulaire de base et par des exercices de traduction qui pr\u00e9pareront l\u2019\u00e9tudiant(e) \u00e0 la lecture de textes classiques.<br \/>\n<!--:--><!--more--><!--:en--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dylan Esler<\/strong> is a scholar and translator of Tibetan texts. He holds an MA in Buddhist Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and is currently a doctoral research scholar at the Institut Orientaliste of the Universit\u00e9 catholique de Louvain (Belgium). He is working on a translation and study of an important tenth-century Tibetan text on the subject of contemplation. His research interest focuses on early rNying-ma expositions of rDzogs-chen andTantra. Il est titulaire d\u2019une ma\u00eetrise en \u00e9tudes bouddhiques de la School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, Londres) et pr\u00e9pare actuellement un doctorat \u00e0 l\u2019Institut Orientaliste de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Louvain. Il travaille sur une traduction et une \u00e9tude approfondie d\u2019un texte tib\u00e9tain de contemplation datant du dixi\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Ses recherches se cristallisent autour des anciennes expositions rNying-mas du rDzogs-chen et du Tantra.
