Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche (1933–2004) was an extraordinary master whose exceptional determination, compassion and foresightedness helped preserve, transmit and revive Buddhist teachings in Tibet at a time when they were in danger of near extinction.
In this class we will delve into some of the pith instructions given by Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok, related to various central topics of the Buddhist path of spiritual realization: how to cultivate compassion and devotion, how to deepen one’s experience of meditation, how to avoid pitfalls that can occur along the path, as well as practical down-to-earth advice on skilfully leading a meaningful life in today’s world.
Lama Jigmé Namgyal, who spent nine years studying under Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok’s direction at the Buddhist university of Serthar Larung Gar which he founded, will share some of his root teacher’s pith instructions during this course. It is a rare privilege to be able to receive such instructions, which speak to the heart and show the timeless relevance of these teachings to our lives.
